The Reading Errors and Comprehension Test is an assessment tool used to evaluate children\u2019s reading aloud performance and reading comprehension skills. The test enables a more detailed assessment by simultaneously evaluating reading speed, accuracy, and comprehension levels in children\u2014particularly those in grades 1 through 8 who struggle with the reading process. <\/p>

It aims to determine not only whether the client reads, but also how they read and to what extent they are able to understand what they read.<\/p>

What Does It Evaluate?<\/h3>

The assessment evaluates reading errors, reading speed, and reading comprehension skills by grade level. Thanks to this structure, it is possible to more clearly distinguish whether a reading difficulty stems from fluency, accuracy, or comprehension processes.By distinguishing these different reading profiles, it provides important insights into determining which areas require support for the child. It can also be used to track progress in reading skills over time.<\/p>

How Does the Application Process Work?<\/h3>

It is administered individually by a specialist. The child reads age-appropriate texts aloud and then answers questions related to the text they have read. During the assessment, the focus is not only on the results but also on the child\u2019s: <\/p>

The effort the student demonstrates while reading, the types of mistakes made, the ability to maintain focus, and the balance between speed and accuracy are also observed.<\/p>

Who Is It Recommended For?<\/h3>

In particular;<\/p>

  • a reading speed that is significantly slower than that of peers,<\/li>
  • Frequent mistakes when reading aloud,<\/li>
  • difficulty understanding what one reads,<\/li>
  • Suspected Specific Learning Disorder (Dyslexia) or Need for Monitoring<\/li><\/ul>
